The BWCR offers several recreational routes, suitable for short riders and century riders.  SAG vehicles are available with tools for minor repairs, first aid and refreshments. Rest stops with refreshments and temporary facilities are conveniently located to give legs and lungs a break.

The ride begins with a scenic route west of Wytheville towards Rural Retreat and pastoral Black Lick with only a slight elevation change. At around mile 23, all riders have a choice:  turn right and return to the finish line (30-mile route) or turn left and head toward the 45-mile, the metric century or the full century routes.  Big Walker calls and riders climb the mountain into beautiful Bland County. The full century offers approximately 5,003 feet of elevation change with out of this world scenery.

Cue sheets are provided the day of the ride.  Routes subject to change.
