The BWCR offers four recreational routes, suitable for short riders and century riders. The ride starts and finishes at George Wythe High School (map it).

SAG vehicles are available with tools for minor repairs, first aid and refreshments. Rest stops with refreshments and temporary facilities are conveniently located on all routes to give legs and lungs a break.

The ride begins with a scenic route west of Wytheville towards Rural Retreat and pastoral Black Lick with only a slight elevation change. At around mile 19, all riders have a choice:  turn right and return to the high school (25-mile route) or turn left and head toward the 40-mile, the metric century or the full century routes.  For the century riders, Big Walker calls and riders cross the mountain into beautiful Bland County. The full century offers approximately 7,500 feet of elevation change and the metric century offers approximately 4,500 feet of climbing, both with out of this world scenery.

Cue sheets are provided the day of the ride.  All routes subject to change.
